Paige began his long media career in Maryborough in 1966 working at radio station 4MB, before moving to Wide Bay television three years later.

He then worked for the ABC for almost 15 years, starting on January 4, 1971 - the same day Sesame Street hit Australian screens.

Paige joined Channel Nine Queensland midway though 1985 for five years before a brief stint with Channel Ten. He returned to Nine in 1994 to take over weekend newsreader duties.

Within 12 months, Paige was presenting the weeknight news bulletin with Heather Foord and, from 2002, Jillian Whiting, before Foord resumed the role again in late 2004.

In 1997, Paige hosted Nine's local current affair program Eye On Queensland.

He continues to enjoy working on local projects as well as successful Queensland documentaries, including The Brisbane Story, The Great Rail Journeys of Queensland, Castles In the Sand: The Story of Noosa, Queensland's Most Amazing Homes and Living With Larry.
