Ros Childs has been presenting ABCs lunchtime TV news since mid-2004, and is a highly respected journalist.

She has an easy on-air style that is at once authoritative and relaxed.
Its made her a favourite with viewers.

Ros is a major presence on the ABC News Channel, and has also reported for 730, as well as hosting Lateline and the 7pm News.

Ros moved to the ABC at the beginning of 2004, and was previously a regular contributor to SBS World News.

She arrived in Australia nearly 15 years ago.

Before leaving the UK, she was a news presenter and business reporter at ITN in London. During her time at ITN, she played an important role in the re-launch of the flagship Evening News program, and reported on the major news stories of the day, including the bombing of the Twin Towers, often travelling overseas.

Ros was also one of the launch presenters on ITVs News Channel. This gave her the fantastic opportunity to interview a wide variety of talent, from then Chancellor Gordon Brown, to movie star Ewan MacGregor.

Her Australian equivalent has been talking to Kevin Rudd on night of the London bombing and then discussing the concept of home with Kevin McCloud from Grand Designs.

Before joining ITN, Ros spent several years as one of the main presenters on CNBC Europe, hosting first the afternoon segment, and then the breakfast show.

Her career in TV began in financial documentaries, which included a Channel 4 investigation of how British Airways was run for Channel 4. This brought with it a trip on Concorde to Washington, and her first trip to Australia. And prior to this she was a writer on Financial Times Newsletters in London, a job she landed straight out of Londons City University where she studied for a post-graduate diploma in Broadcast Journalism.

Her first degree is in English and French, a course which involved a very happy year in the south of France.

Ros has 2 children. She loves them, her job and her adopted country.
