After having his life changed forever in a split second near fatal accident; Kahi chose to overcome adversity and refused to let his disability restrict his life.
Kahi then turned his focus on to excelling in sport - his rigorous six-day a week training regime is testament of his determination to succeed at whatever challenge lays ahead.
Having mastered the strength and skill required in powerlifting, Kahi has gone on to become one of Australia's best bench press powerlifters.
Kahi has celebrated his achievements as a world-class athlete, having represented Australia at the Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000.
After his outstanding success in powerlifting, Kahi turned to a new challenge; hand-cycling. He has competed in the 2004 New York Marathon and is preparing for the upcoming Paralympics.
Kahi has also completed a fitness course through Newcastle TAFE and is a qualified fitness instructor.
Married with four children, Kahi is a devoted husband and father who enjoys taking time out from his busy training schedule to spend time with his family whenever possible.
