Matt Stone

Matt started his career at Leeuwin Estate Winery in 2002, he worked there as an apprentice chef for the next two years.

In 2004 Matt moved to Star Anise, one of Perth's most highly regarded restaurants. It was there at the age of 20 and without formal qualification he was appointed Sous Chef. For the next three years Matt worked with David Coomer to keep the restaurant at the top of Perth's dining scene with their Asian inspired modern Australian cuisine.

In late 2009 at just 22 Matt stepped out on his own to become the Head Chef at Greenhouse Perth. He has made a name for himself working tirelessly to create an exciting and unique dining experience.

Matt has put Greenhouse at the front of Perth's dining culture in just their first year of trade and over the past year he has been awarded numerous accolades. Matt took out Gourmet Traveller's prestigious Best New Talent 2011, West Australia's Good Food Guide's Best Young Chef 2011 and 2012 and Greenhouse won the Good Food Guide's Best New Restaurant for 2011.

Earlier this year Matt took on the role of Executive Chef at Greenhouse by Joost in Sydney. A 'Pop up' concept restaurant was built in three weeks and opened for business for eight weeks. Here Matt faced many challenges running a kitchen in a completely sustainable and environmentally friendly venue. The restaurant was extremely well received and there are plans to take the pop up concept throughout Australia and to Europe over the next years.
