Dr Trudy Lin

Exclusively represented by Claxton Speakers International

Dr Trudy Lin was awarded the 2022 SA Young Australian of the Year, as the youngest of only 25 specialists in Special Needs Dentistry in Australia, providing oral healthcare to marginalised groups experiencing disability, trauma, homelessness and complex medical issues, such as cancer. She was one of ten everyday Australians invited to attend Queen Elizabeth II's funeral to represent Australia in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to the community. In 2021 she won not only the Awards Australia's 2021 Career Achievement Award for her achievements within Special Needs Dentistry, but also was named the 2021 South Australian Young Achiever of the Year, for her contributions to the community outside her profession.

Trudy is a strong advocate for inclusion through her volunteer role as an Associate Advocate and sponsor of Citizen Advocacy SA. She has completed an International Award-Winning research thesis on improving oral healthcare access for people with disability through assessment of a referral tool for stratification of public dental patients with disability in South Australia.

Going beyond inclusion in the oral healthcare setting, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Trudy self-funded a Supported Independent Living facility which provides specialised accommodation for people with disability to live independently in the community. This has served as a platform to raise awareness on Universal Building Design.

Trudy ran a 105km ultramarathon on the Heysen trail to fundraise for the Cancer Council, and overcame her fear of the ocean as a PADI certified Rescue Diver and Freediver. Trudy is passionate about inspiring people to break through self-perceived beliefs as a certified mindset coach and experience as a leadership coach/facilitator of the SA Health Leading Clinicians Program.

A speaker known for her ability to engage and connect with various audiences, from her experience as an Honorary Senior Clinical lecturer at the University of Adelaide, winning the 2022 Colgate Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Emerging Lecturer Award and as a keynote speaker for various events, including International Women's Day, the Bright Ideas Summit and Altitude Day.
