Chris Moon is a former Army officer who worked for a charity clearing landmines in Asia and Africa. During this time he became one of the few westerners to survive kidnap in Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge, negotiating not only his own release but also that of his two Khmer staff after an ordeal of threatened execution.

In Mozambique he was blown up walking in a cleared area resulting in the loss of his lower right arm and leg. Surviving against the odds took an astonishing amount of determination and fitness. Yet within a year of leaving hospital he had completed the London Marathon supporting charities for the disabled.

This amazing determination to succeed against adversity led Chris to become the first amputee to finish the Great Sahara Run, the Badwater 135 mile Death Valley Ultra, 5 marathons back to back, the marathon Des Sables, the 100km Volcano Run in Japan and Extreme Africa Challenge, four marathons, two back to back, and three mountain climbs, including Mount Kilimanjaro, in twelve days.

Through is company MTB (Making the Best-his philosophy in life), Chris has given many presentations on topics such as leadership, change management and challenging the concept of limitation.

Chris received an MBE in 1996 for services to the HALO Trust clearing anti-personnel mines. In 1998 he was awarded the US Centre for Disability and PALM international leadership award and a year later he accepted the Snowdon Special Award for leadership and help to the disabled.

Charity is close to Chris? heart and he is involved with many organisations assisting the disabled and disadvantaged.
