Symantha Perkins is a well-known Mum, model, media commentator, corporate spokesperson and wife of swimming hero Kieren Perkins.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree, Sam began her career as a news reporter/reader with Channel 10 Eyewitness News and later Network 7 Brisbane. Sam left television in 1996 to support her husband through the Atlanta Olympics and the couple followed his emotional against-all-odds victory with the birth of their two children Georgia and Harrison.
In 2000 Sam relaunched her TV career on Foxtel/Channel 10's popular Beauty and the Beast program and was recently appointed family editor for New Idea magazine. She is also an accomplished public speaker.
In 2001, disillusioned with the fashion media's waif image Sam embarked on yet another career path, plus size modeling, with the aim of providing women with a positive, realistic role model. Australian women embraced Sam wholeheartedly and she became a public advocate and inspiration for positive body image.
Sam has represented various iconic brands as a corporate spokesperson including Playtex, Yellowglen and Radiant laundry products and is an ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and www.motherinc.com.au, an Internet information/help service for Australian mothers.
