Margaret Bates has spent more than 20 years as a broadcast journalist, with experience across prime time television and radio.
After graduating from Charles Sturt University, Margaret was immediately employed by 2UE. A stint in the Canberra press gallery as well as police rounds were eye openers for a new graduate. Her natural broadcast voice was recognized at 2UE, where Margaret became their first female newsreader.
Margaret then moved across to Triple M as drive-time and occasional breakfast newsreader and editor alongside Uncle Doug Mulray. In her four years at Triple M the station rose to the top and ruled the airwaves.
She then made the leap to television, becoming Channel Ten's first national late news presenter. From updates during Don Lane's Late Night Oz Show, to prime time bulletins, Margaret was by now an experienced live on-air performer. She is comfortable interviewing politicians, senior business executives and anyone else with a story to tell.
Margaret left Channel 10 to join the lifestyle genre as a presenter/reporter on the top rating Burke's Backyard. At the same time Margaret established her own business producing corporate videos, and is a sought after voice-over artist and MC/facilitator. With her background in journalism, Margaret is able to interview guests live on stage as well as hosting the event. As a producer she can also help you with scripting if required.
