Speakers Profile - Terri Psiakis

Travels From:
Melbourne

Fee Range: E

She watched The Big Gig from far too young an age. Her first stand up spot for a school concert saw her demoralise the tuckshop ladies. She started going to live gigs from the age of 16. Frankly, if Terri Psiakis hadn't gone on to write and perform comedy as an adult, psychologists probably would have had something to say about her obsessive behaviour.

Terri is a young lady well on her way. She has appeared on Rove [Live], The Glass House, Spicks & Specks and ABC-TV's Stand Up! She will also be familiar to listeners of national youth broadcaster Triple J, where she has been a regular contributor over the past 5 years with a weekly spot on Wil Anderson & Adam Spencer's Breakfast Show, co-hosting Summer Lunchtimes with Ross Noble, various shifts as “The T & A Show” with Amy Blackmur and her own weekly segments, “The Psiakis Files” and “Finishing School”, on Robbie Buck's Drive Show.

Terri's flair for broadcasting continued and she now hosts her own Weekend Breakfast Show on Triple M, named “Toast”, with Justin Hamilton and Charlie Pickering.

Terri's natural, conversational style has also come in handy on The Comedy Channel when she hosted backstage interviews for their homegrown show Stand Up! Australia.

Terri's first full length solo stand up show Terri Psiakis is Available debuted in 2005 as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to universally rave reviews, and went on to play in the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2006. She followed this up with another solo show in 2007, aptly titled Terri Psiakis is Unavailable which saw her exploring the ups and downs of shacking up with a bloke in the suburbs, and then finished off the trilogy in 2008 with Terri Psiakis has Pending Nuptials.

Terri has also just had a book commissioned and will be turning Pending Nuptials into the perfect sensible girls' wedding companion book, for release in 2009, and it promises to have not a meringue fluffy dress in sight!

Yes, we are very proud.
