Nick Rowley is a Director of Kinesis; a Sydney based firm working with government and private clients on tackling the climate problem and achieving measureable, reportable and verifiable greenhouse emission reductions.

Over the past twelve years he has worked at the centre of government on sustainability, climate change and broader policy and political strategy in Australia and the UK.

From March 2004 to January 2006, Nick worked at 10 Downing Street as an advisor to Tony Blair. In this role he was part of a small team advising the Prime Minister on climate change prior to the G8 Summit at Gleneagles in July 2005 and worked closely with the likes of Nicholas Stern. From 1995 to 2004 Nick was advisor to Bob Carr, Premier of NSW, working primarily on policy on the environment, urban development and medical research.

Nick is also Strategic Director to the Copenhagen Climate Council working with senior global business CEOs and climate experts to help achieve a new global climate treaty at the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen in December 2009.

In collaboration with the Danish government and working with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the World Economic Forum and the Climate Group, the Council is convening the World Business Summit on Climate Change in May. This three day event, at the venue for the UN meeting later in the year, will involve the CEOs of some of the world’s leading businesses with the purpose of delivering a clear and unequivocal message about the international policy settings required to reduce emissions and effectively tackle the climate problem.

In addition to providing high level strategy advice, Kinesis works with major clients to develop smart digital systems allowing them access the key information needed to understand their emissions performance, and get beyond the requirements of regulation.

Nick is also a regular commentator on climate issues in the Australian and international media, and is a Fellow of the Australian New Zealand School of Government.
