All of Australia knows her simply as Marcia, the diva with the most wonderful and distinctive voice that local pop music has ever heard.
Marcia has been a professional singer for over 30 years. Her 30th anniversary in the business was celebrated with two major releases, both are entitled, simply and succinctly, Diva.
The first is Diva, the CD, an anthology of Marcia's greatest songs that trek a truly remarkable musical career.
Many of the hits from Marcia's extensive library of classic recordings are instantly recognisable: timeless anthems of the soul such as Music Is My Life, You, I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself, Something's Missing In My Life, Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees.
Expect to rediscover many other surprises from the archives. Indeed, the collection traces a line from Marcia's earliest recordings, right through to her most recent smash hit, Time Of Our Lives.
And Diva gives us a couple of delectable glimpses into the future too, like her brand new single, (I've Got To) Believe, a funkadelic collaboration with the celebrated local dance maestro, Paul Mac.
The other Diva takes the written form. "DIVA - The Life Of Marcia Hines" is an official biography eloquently penned by Marcia's friend, celebrated television producer and author Karen Dewey.
Diva the book takes us even further back in time than the CD, vividly recreating the earliest years of Marcia's life, from her birth in Boston, Massachusetts, to her first solo singing engagement only seven years later, to her role in Hair and her new life in Australia.
