Melbourne

Fee Range: E

Known for provocative and probing debate, quick wit and willingness to ask the stickiest of questions, Jon Faine delivers one of the most thought-provoking radio programs in Australia.

Since the late 90s Jon has been the popular presenter of the '774 ABC Melbourne' Morning programme. Whether it be current affairs, law, arts or sport, Jon investigates the issues and stories affecting Melbourne today with energy and vigour - all without taking life too seriously.

Starting every day from 8:30 until Noon, Jon is heard across the state, bringing opinion makers and leaders from business, the Arts, sport - no matter what walk of life. Each day from 11, Jon hosts 'The Conversation Hour' - a celebration of the richness of life that so distinguishes Victoria; its culture, its sport, and its people, where Jon is joined by a regular co-host and special guests and, for a leisurely hour, listeners are treated to a 'round the dinner table' style discussion that, like any animated conversation amongst friends, can and does lead anywhere.

In 2008 Jon took long service leave and together with his teenage son Jack drove from Melbourne to London - 40 000 kms, 20 countries in six months. In mid 2010 Harper Collins will publish ?From Here To There?, the fully illustrated scrapbook of their journey.

Jon has won numerous awards, been thrice nominated for the Walkley Awards and is regularly in demand for conferences and community events.

With a professional background in law, Jon entered radio broadcasting in 1989 to produce and present Radio National's Law Report. He then presented 3LO's morning and afternoon programs and worked on ABC TV's Investigators, First Edition and Wise UP. He has also been a scriptwriter for a number of TV and feature films.
