Richard Brown hails from North-West Queensland where he grew up acknowledging the daily grind and the rough and tumble of life on a cattle station. Having grown up in this environment where you work hard to make a living and rely on self motivation to keep going, Richard has brought this mentality to his Rugby.

Not taking anything for granted Richard works exceptionally hard on getting the best out of himself and making sure opportunities do not pass by. This attitude towards his professional career reflects just how Richard has already come so far.

After playing grade Rugby for Queensland as a junior, John Mitchell approached Richard to be a member of the foundation Western Force squad in 2006, where he grasped the opportunity with both hands making an immediate impact in his Super 14 debut year.

Since his debut in the Super 14, Richard has continued to thrive for the Western Force and Australian representative teams. Making the most of his tutelage from a young age where he was involved in various academy's and high performance units. Richard has progressed from Australian Schoolboys right through to a 2008 debut for the Australian Wallabies against the All Blacks where he came on to play an exceptional 46 minutes for the injured Wycliff Palu, to be one of Australia?s best performers in what was a sour night for the Wallabies. Richard then went on to have a outstanding Spring Tour with the Wallabies, adding another four tests to his tally.

Richard went on to continue to dominant in his back row positions in 2009 with a further seven appearances for the Force. He then overcame an ankle injury and featured in seven tests for the Qantas Wallabies program and is now retained as one of the favoured back-row options available to Robbie Deans.

The Richard Brown and David Pocock combination in the 2010 season made them the most feared at the breakdown. Arguably the two best around the ruck prevented counter-rucking and stealing of the ball and in turn continually frustrated their opposition turning to points.

The combination mentioned above along side Rocky Elsom in the Bundaberg Rum Wallabies campaign in 2010 will be a time for the three back rowers to mold into what looks to be the combination Robbie Deans will use in the Rugby World Cup in 2011 in New Zealand.

Outside of Rugby, Richard's interests shift to the water where he loves to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and do some scuba diving. Richard finds this both relaxing and interesting, which definitely provides a different experience to that out on the Rugby pitch.
