Peter contributes to the Heritage Council of Australia, Interior Design Association and various Schools of Architecture. He is committed to engaging with the architectural community and is currently a Senior Counsellor, and on the Honours Committee of the Australian Institute of Architects.

Maddison Architects has completed over 300 projects since its inception, including hospitality, tourism, residential, educational and commercial. The practice has sought to create a new and relevant architecture.

Peter is Ambassador for the not-for-profit Melbourne Open House program, the Planet Ark endorsed Environmental Edge campaign and a supporter of Kids Under Cover charity.

Peter took on the role of Host of the Australian production of Grand Designs in 2009. The first series was an outstanding success becoming LifeStyle's most successful local production ever. In 2011 it won two ASTRA awards, and was also nominated for a Logie in 2011 and 2013. Series 4 and 5 are now in production.

In 2011 Grand Designs Live was spawned, with 18,000 people attending the inaugural event in Sydney. Grand Designs Live went to Melbourne and Sydney in 2012, attracting 52,000 visitors. Peter is also the Editor-at-Large for the Grand Designs Australia Magazine, and his first book, "Grand Designs Australia: The Handbook" has just been released.
