Speakers Profile - Glenn Cooper AM

Glenn was the Chairman and Marketing Director of Coopers Brewing, Australia's largest independent brewing company. The company was named the world's top family business in 2011. He is the Chairman of Australian Made and Australian Grown.

Born in 1950 and educated at Prince Alfred College, Glenn is a fifth generation Cooper. He started off his working career by gaining qualifications in electronic engineering, and later in computing and marketing.

After his completion of studies, Glenn entered into the computing field with a company called Anderson Digital Equipment. After two years with this company, he moved to Melbourne to take up his new role of National Distribution Manager.

In 1983 Glenn returned to South Australia to set up a private business in computer sales and contract services. This company grew to a substantial size with offices in Adelaide and Brisbane.

In July 1990, Glenn joined the family brewery and today is Executive Chairman at Coopers Brewery and also held the responsibility of the Marketing. He has overseen the launch of numerous products to the Coopers beer range, including: Coopers Mild Ale, Coopers Dark Ale, Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale, Coopers Lager and most recently Coopers Clear. He now oversees Coopers interstate operations which includes recent distribution and brewing rights for international beers, Carlsberg, Sapporo and Kronenbourg.

Glenn is currently the Chairman of Australian Made Australian Grown since early 2010.

In the past Glenn has been chairman of the Adelaide Fringe Committee (1994-1999. Glenn was also Chairman of the Adelaide Convention and Tourism Authority (1998-2006).

In 2002 Glenn received a Centenary Medal, and in 2005 he was awarded a Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia.

Glenn completed the Kokoda Track in 2007, following the footsteps of his uncle Colonel Geoff Cooper.

He has an Associate Diploma in Business from Stanford University Faculty of Business. His focus at this stage of his brewery career is to continually expand the Coopers company interstate and internationally and retain Coopers as a privately held family company.

Glenn is married to Elspeth and they have 2 children.
