Abbey Gelmi is an acclaimed television presenter, journalist, and host. Granddaughter of Olympic Gold Medallist Herb Elliott, sport is in Abbey’s blood.

Originally from Perth, Abbey now resides in Sydney where she has quickly established herself as one of Australia’s leading sports hosts and presenters. Recently signed on as presenter on Network Seven’s coverage of cricket and horse racing, Abbey previous held the role of breakfast newsreader at Fox Sports News, where she covered breaking sports news nationally from the 24-hour news desk.

Quick thinking and highly trained, Abbey relishes covering live events and interviewing the biggest names in sport. Over her career Abbey has interviewed some of world sports biggest names including Pele, Tiger Woods, Usain Bolt and Arsene Wenger. Abbey also works as a key member of the NBL (National Basketball League) broadcast team where is known for her close rapport with the game’s biggest names.

Abbey is a also a sought after ambassador, emcee & red carpet host, working with brands such as Longines, Myer, & Emirates, covering everything from sport to entertainment, luxury and fashion, including as the red carpet host for GQ Man of The Year Awards.

Scouted by a modelling agency in her hometown of Perth at 17, Abbey worked as a model before transitioning into media.

Highly academic, Abbey received a scholarship to study a Bachelor of Media at Curtin University, where she is on the honour roll for performing in the top 1% of students across all faculties. She went on to study a postgraduate diploma of Broadcast at Edith Cowan where she was awarded a scholarship with Fox Sports prompting her move to Sydney.

Having worked nationally as a presenter, host, reporter, MC and writer, Abbey not only brings a wealth of experience and knowledge but an infectious enthusiasm to all that she does.
