Yasmin developed a strong sense of justice at a young age. After growing up in a low income family in country Victoria, she was instilled with the desire to stand up for the disadvantaged and create a fairer Australia. Yasmin began her journey at 17 years old volunteering for several youth led NGOs. Through this experience, she realised the power of youth voice.

Since then, Yasmin has gone on to be a prominent advocate for youth issues. In 2018, she was Chair of the Victorian Government’s Youth Congress, advising the government on youth policy and representing 1.2 million young people. She is currently the Director of Business Development for 180 Degrees Consulting, the largest youth led consultancy in the world.

As a result of this work, Yasmin was a panellist on ABC’s Q&A in November 2018. She has built a strong platform as the 2018 Ambassador for Plan International and the World Bank, with opinion pieces published in Fairfax and Huffington Post.

Yasmin was also the Australian Youth Representative to APEC 2018 in Papua New Guinea and Delegate to the ASEAN-Australia Business Summit. She has interned across NGOs like Asialink, Asia Pacific Centre for R2P and ICAN (Winner of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize).

Yasmin is a Law and International Relations student at the Australian National University. She is a General Representative on ANU Student Council, Vice President of the International Law Society and incoming member of the Red Cross Humanitarian Law Committee.
