Paul Monk is a historian, international relations scholar, former senior intelligence analyst (of China, Japan, North and South Korea and Taiwan), a frequent contributor to both print and electronic media on numerous subjects from geopolitics to euthanasia, from ecology to cancer research. He is a well-known writer of opinion pieces, book reviews and feature articles in the press, over many years. He is the author of eleven books, including three books of poetry. The most recent book is a book of three hundred poems, titled The Three Graces: Companionship, Discretion, Passion (2022). He has a further book of poetry due out in early 2023.

He has spoken at national events for over twenty years on topics ranging from espionage and national security to the implications of the rise in Chinese power, religion in a secular age, the nature of Western civilization and educating young minds for the 21st century world. He was inducted, in 2022, as a Fellow of the London and New York based Institute for Law and Strategy. He has, since 2019, been a Fellow of the Rationalist Society of Australia and an editorial board member of its online journal Rationale, in which his essays, on a very wide range of topics, have appeared for the last half dozen years.
