George Gregan exploded onto the international rugby scene in 1994 when he played an integral role in Australia winning the Bledisloe Cup with a try saving tackle on Jeff Wilson in the dying stages of the game. Since that significant game, George has gone on to consolidate his position as the world's leading scrum–half.
Known for his accurate play and dynamic defense skills by supporters and opponents alike, George's ability to crash his opposition into the turf irrespective of size has earned him the reputation as one of the games most aggressive and competitive scrumhalves in world Rugby. George was appointed the Wallaby Captain on 10 September 2001 and his first match as captain of Australia was against Spain in November 2001.
George was awarded the International Rugby Player's Association Player of the Year for 2001 and capped off a memorable 2001 season winning the inaugural Rugby Medal for Excellence, recognising outstanding performances on and off the field. Along with his rugby career, George is now owner/manager of four Espresso Bars in Sydney's CBD and North Sydney, known as "GG Espresso".
