James Kirby is a senior writer with BRW. Over the last year he has written cover stories on some of Australia's best-known entrepreneurs including John Singleton, Lindsay Fox, Graeme Hart and John Symond. He has also produced a range of in-depth features on the Commonwealth Bank, Dell Computer, offshore outsourcing, and the childcare industry.

James has a special interest in information technology. He is a former guest lecturer on technology at the Mt Eliza Business School and a regular speaker at industry functions. In March 2004 he won the Technology Industry Journalist of the Year at the IT Journo Awards.

In 2003 James launched his 'Business Secrets' series of biographies with 'Gerry Harvey: Business Secrets of Harvey Norman's Retailing Mastermind.' This year he released 'Richard Pratt: Business Secrets of the Billionaire Behind Australia's Richest Private Company'. He is currently working on 'Janine Allis: Business Secrets of the Woman Behind Boost Juice' which will be published by John Wiley in May 2005.

James is an experienced corporate speaker with a warm anecdotal style who captures the excitement of big business through in entertaining and highly topical presentation. He is always contemporary in content and relevant to current news and events.

James has previously worked as a staff business writer with Business and Finance Magazine (Dublin), the South China Morning Post (Hong Kong), The Australian and the Australian Financial Review.
