Tanya Ha is an award-winning Australian environmentalist, best-selling author, science journalist and sustainable living advocate. She is best known for her work bringing sustainability to mainstream television and for her popular guidebooks, including the newly published Greeniology 2020.
Tanya is currently a reporter for ABC TV's respected science show Catalyst, is the environment presenter for Can We Help?, writes for several magazines and is a media commentator on environmental issues. She also starred as the 'eco coach' in the landmark SBS series Eco House Challenge. In 2010 she won the United Nations Association of Australia Media Award for Environmental Reporting for her work on the Tasmanian documentary/lifestyle series Warm TV.
Tanya is also a best-selling author. Her books include the best-selling eco-guide book Greeniology, the acclaimed The Australian Green Consumer Guide and Green Stuff for Kids. Her areas of expertise include communicating sustainability to mainstream audiences, sustainable living and working, consumer issues and science in the media.
Warm, engaging and more hip than hippie, Tanya is a rare breed of environmentalist - one with a sense of humour. She makes complex environmental issues easy to understand and offers practical, accessible advice that people can incorporate into their lifestyle. Her approach is fun and positive, believing that people respond better when they're made to feel empowered rather than guilty.
Tanya spent many years working for the environment group Planet Ark, is a past board member of Keep Australia Beautiful and is an ambassador for the Living Smart program. She also serves on the Board of the state government authority Sustainability Victoria. She was recently a delegate to the Australia 2020 Summit.
