From Sea World's Dolphin Pools to hosting kids, music, clip and travel shows, David Whitehill is a passionate and experienced television presenter. He can currently be seen as the co-host on Qantas's flagship program Welcome, his travel reports reaching out to a captive audience of nearly 2 million viewers each week.
Australia was first introduced to David Whitehill in 2002 when he was crowned Cleo magazines Bachelor of the Year. The blonde, blue-eyed surfer and Dolphin Trainer at Sea World had never really thought about entering the land of television. Adored for his down to earth charm, David ("Dolphin Boy") is a natural talent with an obvious affinity with animals and an engaging and down to earth presence on screen.
With crown in hand, David hit the ground running, and was quickly snapped up by the Nine Network. He went straight to work on the national children's program Hot Source while immediately pursing his need for the outdoors by presenting on Queensland Escapes, where he travelled, sky and scuba dived his way through some of Queensland's most alluring territory. Next stop, hosting the national music show So Fresh. David reviewed clips and albums from around the globe whilst interviewing many famous international music stars.
Kerri Anne Kennerly took a shine to David and he started presenting with KAK in 2004, "crossing live" and presenting feature stories for Mornings with Kerri Anne. Covering a wide range of topics, this role has given him vast experience in live broadcast. With the program, David has also travelled extensively overseas filming travel and adventure stories, and in 2007 co-hosted the program with Kerri Anne while travelling through Europe.
David has continued to work solidly as a presenter from his first day on set. He's hosted a series of Just for Laughs, reported on the news based program Brisbane Extra, and has also lit up the screens as a presenter on the travel based Saturday Afternoon. He's even thrown his skates in the ring as a celebrity on Channel Nine's Skating on Thin Ice, a nationally broadcast series with World renowned Disney on Ice.
David's broad experience has built some incredible foundations including hosting Foxtel's international travel series Escape, where he travelled to 13 different countries in the first series alone. David has also hosted a series of 'What's Up Down Under' for the Seven Network.
David's also been the "Face Of" some of Australia's biggest brands including Sea World Australia and last year joined Qantas as co-host for the Welcome program. Australian travel company Scenic Tours also saw the benefit of David fronting their brand as they selected him to host and produce two travel specials from Canada, which aired to over 4 million viewers.
Not only has David worked as a successful face in front of the camera, but he is also the director of his own production company Splash MultiMedia.
