Catherine Fox

Catherine is a journalist, author and public speaker with a particular interest in women and the workforce, workplace trends, management and career.

After working in the financial services sector in Sydney and London, Catherine joined the Australian Financial Review. During a long career with the AFR she edited several sections of the publication, wrote the Corporate Woman column, and was deputy editor of Boss magazine. She was the founding co-chair of the Westpac/Financial Review Women of Influence Awards and won several awards for her journalism. Since leaving the AFR in 2012 she freelances for a variety of publications including ABC Online, Qantas magazine, and The Deal as well as advising a range of organisations on workplace gender issues.

Catherine has written three books including, "Seven Myths about Women and Work" (New South 2012) which was shortlisted for the Ashurst Business Literature Prize. Her latest book 'Stop fixing women; why building fairer workplaces is everybody's business' will be released in 2017. She is on several advisory boards, including the Defence Force Gender Equality Advisory Board and is an honorary fellow of the Centre for Ethical Leadership at Ormond College, University of Melbourne. She has a BA (Communications) UTS and an MA (Hons) UNSW.

Speaking tour on women and workforce/leadership trends for Young Professional Women Australia; keynote presentations at Australian Women's Leadership Symposium nationally; presenting/moderating panel discussions on workforce trends and gender balance for a range of organisations including Australian Human Resources Institute, Norton Rose, Allens, Laing O'Rourke, Blackrock, Baker & Mackenzie, Westpac, Google, Treasury, NSW Dept of Finance, ACCC, Women on Boards, Women in Finance.

MC roles include Older Australians at Work summit; UN Women's International Women's Day breakfasts nationally; annual two-day Chartered Secretaries Australia conference, the Global Reporting Initiative regional conference, and hosting of Business Achievement Awards for Workplace Gender Equality Agency; Media training sessions and focus groups for individuals and a range of organisations including Chief Executive Women and Women in Media; Media commentary on gender and workplace debate, including radio interviews (ABC and regional stations), appearances on Q & A, The Drum, and print interviews.
