Lucas is a well-loved former professional golfer, cafe owner and media personality. Before his appearance on MasterChef Australia in 2009 Lucas competed as both an amateur and a professional on the international golfing circuit for over 18 years competing against the likes of Tiger Woods and David Duval.

Following his retirement from professional golf in early 2008 Lucas opened T's Book Cafe in Randwick which recently won Outstanding New Business 2009 in the Randwick City Council's Business Excellence Awards. Lucas has long had a passion for food and wine and with his recent appearance in the first Australian series of MasterChef he has proven to be a talented cook.

In January 2009 Lucas auditioned for the first series of "Masterchef Australia" and made it through all the audition stages into the top 20. Competing in many food challenges and enjoying being a part of the TV experience once again, Lucas went onto beat celebrity chef Ben O'Donoghue in a challenge to be fast-tracked into the final week of the series which received the largest Australian audience for a non-sporting event with a peak of over 4.11 million viewers for the Finale in July.

The MasterChef experience has whetted his appetite for the food industry; his "dream job" would be a combination of golf, food and wine.

Lucas is charismatic and personable with the knack for engaging an audience. His down to earth and witty persona makes him the perfect host which is why in 1997 Channel 10 and Beyond Productions approached him to host a television show called "Golf Australia". The show also went to air in New Zealand and ran for over 35 episodes. Lucas developed key skills in television presenting and he is very much at ease addressing an audience of any size.

He has appeared on The Pro Shop as guest co-host in April 2009 and was part of the commentary team tailing Tiger Woods at the 2009 Australian Masters.
