Genevieve Lang is well known to Australian audiences as a harpist, broadcaster, and host. You might well have seen her on stage with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, or any one of our state symphony or pit orchestras. In recent times it’s more likely that you’ve heard her dulcet tones on ABC Classic, announcing, educating and advocating for the thing she loves best – classical music.

A gifted storyteller, Genevieve regularly gives pre-concert talks for the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Symphony, Australian Haydn Ensemble and others. Elsewhere she’s taken on education projects for Musica Viva, led tours for Hayllar Music Tours, and worked with Pinchgut Opera, Gondwana Choirs and the Australian Youth Orchestra. She has a particular passion for supporting music education for all Australian children, working closely with the AYO Music in Me program.

Genevieve has hosted a variety of concerts, including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s 75th anniversary performance, the Australian National Academy of Music’s concerto competition with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony’s performance as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Sydney Opera House, which was simultaneously broadcast to the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House as part of celebrations from inside the Concert Hall.

Genevieve occasionally pops up on your television screens for special classical music events on ABC TV and ABC iView. For Genevieve, broadcasting and media are the perfect way to share her passion for classical music with the biggest possible audience!
