Founder, Future Media

From war zones to boardrooms. From AI pioneer to global storyteller.

Twelve years ago, long before ChatGPT or Gemini, Ricky Sutton built an AI company that could read the news and watch video. Back then, no one believed AI would work. Today, the technologies he helped pioneer sit at the heart of OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft’s AI revolutions.

But Ricky’s view of the future goes far deeper than the code.

Born amid poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa, he began his career as a war correspondent, reporting from the frontlines of global conflict before going on to lead some of the biggest newsrooms in the world. Later, he crossed the divide into tech, helping build Bing at Microsoft and advising some of the most powerful players in Silicon Valley and beyond.

Now, as founder of Future Media, Ricky runs a global initiative that connects thousands of journalists, technologists, CEOs and educators - bridging the worlds of storytelling, AI, and strategy. His mission: To navigate business and society to a better future, faster.

Ricky has spoken on the biggest stages on Earth, from Broadway to global summits, and now brings his perspective to boardrooms, schools, banks, and businesses across Australia and the world.

Recent testimonial:

Ricky is a brilliant communicator who knows how to read the room and create meaningful connections, whether he’s speaking to C-suite leaders, team leads, or folks deep in the day-to-day. His sessions strike that sweet spot between strategic vision and practical insight, always tailored to the moment and the audience.

What sets Ricky apart is his ability to spark bold, future-focused thinking while staying grounded in real-world experience. He brings a unique lens to topics like the future of media, the collision of tech and culture, creativity, and what it means to lead in a changing world.

His lived experience brings authenticity and depth to every talk, and he has a rare gift for inspiring new ways of thinking while leaving people with clear, actionable takeaways.
