Rob Palmer

Believe it or not, this larrikin builder has a history on stage. Most recently performing As Edna Turnblad in Hairspray at Crown Theatre to packed houses of 2000 pax.

In 2016 Rob performed “Of Bing I sing”, a Bing Crosby tribute show at Glen St Theatre in Sydney. An exuberant love of theatre and performance since school days found an unlikely ally in the building industry. It was after working as a carpenter in 2002 that Rob entered the hearts and living rooms of Australians when he starred as the DIY guru on Seven’s Better Homes & Gardens. He remained a staple of the show till 2015, filming over 500 episodes.

Rob met his wife Gwenllian, in Wales during the 1999 Rugby World Cup. They married in 2002 and have a son, Gruffydd, and two daughters, Branwen and Greta.

In 2010, Rob took out the 10th season of Dancing With The Stars with dance partner Alana Patience. He has also appeared regularly on various Australian programs including House Calls To The Rescue and Room For Improvement.

From 2018 Rob moved into radio, hosting the breakfast show with his mate Paddy Gerard for 107.7 Triple M on the NSW Central Coast for the following 6yrs.

Currently Rob hosts “TopKnotz”, an original program airing on the Nine Network and Nine Now. It’s a show about Marine adventure and anything aquatic, combining Great mates, product and boat reviews, epic challenges and spectacular locations around the world.

In 2002 Rob discovered a love for live television entertainment, the enerosity of WA and the courageous hearts of sick children when he joined the 7 Telethon team as a regular guest and willing contributor, a role he maintains to this day.

Rob supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes aged seven.
