In 2000 Richard Hames forecast the use of autonomous drones by the military. In 2005 he explained to bankers in New York the patterns that would lead to a global financial crisis just three years later. He was first among his peers to anticipate the success of Apple�s iPhone and Tesla�s electronic cars. More recently, he predicted the rise of Donald Trump in the US, accurately describing the conditions that would lead to escalating tensions between North Korea, China and the US.

Educated in Europe, domiciled in Asia, Richard is an Australian citizen. He is the author of six books including best-sellers The Management Myth; Burying the 20thCentury; and The Five Literacies of Global Leadership.

His early international experience in the field of strategic management was inspired by a close professional friendship with the legendary Dr W Edwards Deming. In 1992 Richard created The Hames Group and worked as a strategic adviser to government institutions and multinational corporations in the USA, Europe, UK, China, Japan, India, South Africa, Brazil, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. He was a senior adviser to the US Office for the Reinvention of Government, and has counselled clients on issues as diverse as the future of conflict, work and the workplace, taxation, business and society, faith, food security, international terrorism, climate change, the hydrogen economy, smart cities, financial services, health care, the legislation of artificial intelligence, political systems, the convergence of technologies, transport, and alternative energy.

In 2006 he accepted the position of Chairman of the International Steering Committee for State of the World Forum. In 2009 he was appointed President and CEO of the think-tank Australia 21. Then, in 2015, he founded Centre for the Future � a unique global enterprise whose mission is to make the world work for everyone by designing alternatives to systems that are currently failing the human family.
Admired for his passionate advocacy of real-time cybernetic and humanitarian models of governance he is the co-founder of the direct democracy movement MiVote and was instrumental in establishing Horizon State � a commercial enterprise devoted to creating secure blockchain-based engagement, decision-making and voting platforms.

Richard remains an active partner in the design firm HamesMcGregor + Partners, where he co-designed new enterprise models that include Strategic Navigation, Transformational Narrative, Systemic Acupuncture, and Deep Design, and is the main contributor to The Hames Report: Reflecting on the future of everything.
