Shelly Horton

Exclusively Represented by Claxton Speakers International

Shelly Horton has demonstrated herself as the ultimate Australian authority on all things entertainment. She is equally experienced at sharing her female perspective on news of the day and has a passion for pop culture. She loves nothing more than debating stories live on television and radio as well as in print and online media.

She's just taken on her biggest role yet as host and producer of Mamamia TV, charged with expanding on Australia's premier women's website Her videos will cover all the topics Mamamia's audience love best; from current affairs to fashion, entertainment and careers.

Previously she was co-host of wellbeing digital channel healthyMEtv.

A graduate of University of Queensland with a journalism degree, Shelly's winning combination of qualifications and curiosity helped her break into the media industry with a role as ABC Radio's crime reporter in 1994. She then went on to become a newsreader on Triple J and a reporter on ABC TV and Radio. These positions quickly proved her capabilities in covering a range of subjects including health, courts and the arts.

Her potential did not go unnoticed. Shelly went on to secure a role as the South Pacific Correspondent for Entertainment Tonight America -- the world's most watched entertainment program. Following this, she spent several years as a reporter for ABC TV on shows like George Negus Tonight, Media Dimensions and Mondo Thingo and she gained a reputation for her quirky and entertaining style.

Shelly continued her stint on our screens, appearing on several Channel Nine programs -- including a weekly spot debating the difference between men and women on the Today Show, news and current affairs discussions on Mornings with Kerri-Anne, and prime time show 20-1. Her sharp wit and ability to go toe-to-toe with comedians also landed Shelly a regular guest spot on ABC's The Glass House.

Shelly's uncanny ability to break celebrity scoops, her passion for health and beauty trends as well as all things pop culture easily saw her make the transition to print, and she joined the team at Fairfax Media in 2007. In her three year role as gossip columnist of the 'S' entertainment section in the Sun Herald , Shelly attended approximately 1500 cocktail-fuelled A-list functions, before stepping up to the role of Editor-At-Large at the same publication ( a title she held for three years), while also penning a weekly trend-based column "Schmooze it or lose it". In 2013 Shelly was appointed the National Editor of Life&Style on - covering everything from well-being, the well-dressed and well-known celebrity train wrecks.

The entire time Shelly maintained her passion for television, making weekly appearances on Channel Seven -- including weekly battles as part of Kochie's Angels on Sunrise; debating news of the day on The Morning Show and providing pop culture commentary on Weekend Sunrise. Shelly also continued to dip her toes in radio with regular spots on 2UE, 2GB and ABC Radio.

She has a Little Black Book packed with the biggest names in the business. But rather than be overwhelmed by famous folk, like Tom Cruise, Michael Buble and even the Dalai Lama, her charm and charisma have helped her hold her own. And as a respected reporter, prime public speaker and super social commentator Shelly has always kept her innate ability to keep all around her at ease, energised and entertained!
