Renowned curator Les Burdett is one of cricket's most popular identities, having served Adelaide Oval for 41 years. In that time, he's earned the respect of players, administrators and spectators world-wide.
Les has consulted to Cricket Australia and the International Cricket Council. His expertise has been in demand in various venues around the world including India, South Africa and Kuala Lumpur. This recognised his worldwide reputation.
Les is the recipient of the Australian Sports Medal in recognition of his services to cricket, the Australian Centenary Medal for service to the sport of cricket and the turf industry and the Order of Australia for services to the turf management industry, charities and the community.
Les is an ambassador for SA Variety, for he is passionate about helping underprivileged children.
Born and educated in Adelaide, he is one of seven boys and served 18 months National Service in the engineering corp of the Australian Army. Les played amateur league A grade football in South Australia and captained Adelaide Teachers College A1 Reserves to a premiership on Adelaide Oval in his last year as a player.
Les is currently director of Les Burdett Consulting Pty Ltd and continues to consult nationally and internationally.
