The Hon. Charlie Lynn was a Vietnam veteran at 21. Having decided to stay in the army, he quickly became an officer. Then he discovered parachuting. Soon he was sent to the US as an instructor.

Promoted to Major, he returned to Australia as Officer Commanding Air Movement, Training & Development at Richmond.

Then it was off to the Northern Territory and the Pacific, before retirement at age 40.

Aware that nobody knew him, his first task was to create a profile for himself.

So he decided to break the NSW 24-hour marathon record and then went on to do the marathon in 2 hours 51 minutes, run 100 kilometres in 8 hours 26 minutes and complete the Ironman Triathlon in 13 hours 12 minutes.

Charlie's feats were noticed by Westfield who gave him the job of directing their world famous Sydney to Melbourne ultra-marathons from 1984 to 1991.

Other famous Charlie Lynn events include the international George Street mile, the international ANZAC Day Marathon, and an18,000 kilometre Army relay race that raised over $500,000 for cancer research.

Not only did Charlie become a highly regarded motivational speaker, but also a leader of expeditions to the Gulf Country, the Kimberleys. and the infamous Kokoda Track..

Today Charlie Lynn is a Member of the Legislative Council in the NSW Parliament.
