Max Walsh, one of Australia' top economic and political commentators, leads The Bulletin's team of writers, reporters and commentators.

Walsh's career has encompassed positions with two of Australia's largest publishing companies and three television networks.

He was editor and managing editor of The Australian Financial Review.

He helped establish Channel Nine's Sunday program and he co-hosted the Carleton-Walsh Report for the ABC before moving to Channel 10 as the anchor of The Walsh Report.

From 1983 to 1998 Walsh was a highly respected economic and political correspondent for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. He is author of the book, Poor Little Rich Country - A Political History of the1970's.

BACKGROUND

Max Walsh has been covering the Australian political, economic and business scene as a journalist for 35 years.

A regular columnist in the Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne Age, Max was until recently the presenter of the Walsh Report on the Ten Network.

Before joining Ten Max was co-presenter on the Carlton Walsh Report on the ABC and before that he helped launch Nine's Sunday program.

From 1974 - 1981 Max was the editor of the Australian Financial Review, having moved into the post from Canberra where he had been the paper's political commentator for nine years.
Max Walsh is a graduate of Sydney University and was made a member of the order of Australia in 1983 for his services to journalism.
