Born in Sydney, educated at Knox Grammar School and Sydney University (BA, LLB) Ian Sinclair was admitted as a barrister in 1952 and bred cattle and sheep at �Glenclair�, Bendemeer NSW from 1953 to the end of 2001. In 1961 he was elected to the NSW Legislative Council and from 1963 to 1998 represented New England in the House of Representatives.

Ian served as a senior Minister in the portfolios of Defence, Communications, Special Trade Negotiations, Primary Industry, Shipping and Transport, Social Services and Minister Assisting the late Sir John McEwen as Minister for Trade and Industry. He was Leader and Deputy Leader of the National Party, Leader of the House and retired as Speaker in October 1998. He chaired an Advisory Committee to the NSW Minister for Health on health facilities in smaller country towns, public consultations on the proposed amalgamation of the border cities of Albury and Wodonga and advises the NSW Government on rural health issues.

Ian Sinclair is one of Australia's most respected political figures. He is an articulate and charismatic speaker with a wealth of experience in a most diverse range of subjects.
