Richard Stubbs is well known as one of Australia's finest stand-up comedians. His cutting wit and clever delivery makes for rapid-fire entertainment, and his winning style makes him the most potent force in Australia's live radio & television market.

The unrivalled success of the Richard Stubbs Breakfast Show on Triple M radio network was confirmed by Richard's constant No. 1 ratings during a 13-year career in radio.

Educated at Wesley College, with a Bachelor of Economics and four years of nose to the grindstone' for CRA Ltd, Richard seemed destined for a successful career in finance...wrong!

After a try out routine at Melbourne's Last Laugh in 1983, Richard's style of anecdotal comedy, based on real life experience proved an immediate winner. His ability to hold an audience enthralled with his sharp delivery and rapid-fire ad-libs earned him a reputation as the hottest arrival on the comedy scene. Since then, Richard has performed in every comedy room imaginable including those in Montreal, Los Angeles, London, New York and Australia. He completed a sell out season at the Athenaeum Theatre during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April 1998 and two national tours during the same year.

Richard's strong sense of understanding the business world has enhanced his ability to perform at a corporate level second to none. A combination of Richard's brilliant comedic skills blended with his intelligence and knowledge in various fields included economics, law, finance and his awareness in the realms of office procedure and etiquette allows him to contribute as MC, guest speaker or comedian at a function in a completely appropriate manner.

His TV Credits included that of writer, interviewer, co-host, host, actor and comedian! The list of TV credits reads some-what like a TV Guide: Out There, While You're Down There, The Big Gig, Elton John's Store, Prime Time, Madonna Special, The Flying Doctors, The Midday Show, The Great TV Game Show, Hey Hey It's Saturday, The Australian Music Awards, Tonight Live as a regular Host on Friday nights for the run of the show and his most recent success as compere of the 1994 and 1995 ARIA Awards, to name but a few.

Richard has also been utilised by many company's for their television and radio voice over advertisement campaigns including Holeproof, Malt 75 Beer, Metro Bricks, Vicks Vapodrops, Radio Rentals, Autobarn, and many more

Richard's highly polished live performances were refined even further by the experience he gathered whilst hosting 120 Tonight Live shows every Friday evening aired on Channel 7 nationally from 1990 to 1993. This rare expertise has also provided Richard with quick thinking and entertaining problem solving techniques. He has the ability to pull an event back into line successfully where most hosts fail.

Richard currently hosts a successful afternoon program on Melbourne 774 ABC Radio, where his humour and intellect are reaching a different audience.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

Your observant comments on each of the speakers helped to frame the sessions and kept the morning moving at a snappy pace, a result that was appreciated by both the audience members and the organisers. Your comments were particularly relevant, showing a good grasp of many areas in education.

Richard Stubbs was engaged as the Master of Ceremonies for the Just Jeans 25 Years Event at the Regent Hotel, Melbourne. It was a difficult evening to present with guests ranging from family and close friends to the Just Jeans staff, V.I.P.'s and Board Members. Respectfully, Richard held the audience and in many ways the evening together. Richard wrote the script and worked with The ARC Factory on the format of the evening. Not only is Richard clever and witty, but importantly, as a comedian he understands that fine line of how far to take things, working with his audience and the environment he has been placed in.

All I can say is thank God we had Richard Stubbs last night at the Occupational Health and Safety Awards, because he saved the night. In between a power failure that stopped the Audio Visual presentation for about 5 minutes (and it seemed like 5 days!) and a drunken attendee who decided she didn't like the awards and had to be thrown out, I suppose it was just another awards night! Richard's sense of humour and quick wit with these accidents helped turn a potential disaster into what ended up being the highlight of the night!

Richard, as MC for our launch of Telstra's Wireplay Computer Games Network, in a nutshell was fantastic and pivotal in making the launch a huge success. Apart from being a seasoned professional and a pleasure to work with. His humour, attitude and performance on the day really made the launch come to life! We don't believe that anyone other than Richard could have done the job as successfully. The launch was technically complex and Richard has to banter with the live Melbourne audience and keep the show running whilst keeping his Sydney audience interested. He managed all this with his unique brand of humour. His obvious interest and enthusiasm for computer games really won the audience over. We could not have wished for a more appropriate MC.
