ON 1 MAY 2000, Constable Daryl Elliott Green was on a routine callout when he was ambushed by a crazed gunman and TWICE SHOT in the face and shoulder. Despite injuries and significant blood loss, Daryl drew his firearm and began searching for the shooter. A year later, for his actions that night, he was presented with a Valour Award, Queensland Police Service’s highest accolade for bravery. But he was only just embarking on a harrowing journey of recovery.

Almost two decades later, despite post traumatic stress, countless surgeries, episodic depression and times when he felt like giving up, Daryl is here to tell the compelling and confronting tale of how he turned his life around. He shares his insights through his TWICE SHOT talks, workshops and programs on:

• Resilience
• Courageous Conversations
• Leadership
• Brave Decisions

Daryl’s story captivates and inspires. He ‘bullet proofs’ teams and leaders by showing them how to create resilience within their organisations and foster open communication between individuals. He empowers people to develop strong leadership skills and importantly, make brave decisions under pressure.

TWICE SHOT talks feature actual audio of the shooting, 3D computer modelling, 2D schematics of the incident, crime scene photos, surgical models and the offender’s profile.

In 2018, Daryl was made a Lifeline ambassador. He donates his time to share Lifeline’s message of hope through its suicide prevention services and helps raise funds.

In 2015, Daryl was awarded the prestigious Kerrie Nairn Scholarship for Public Speaking from Australia’s peak speaking body, Professional Speakers Australia. The scholarship recognises rising stars on the speaking circuit and helps them develop.

Daryl remains a serving member of the Queensland Police Service.
