Shelley Ware is a proud Yankunytjatjara and Wirangu woman, educator, author and media presenter based in Naarm (Melbourne). Her career spans education, media and sport, where she uses storytelling to amplify First Nations voices and experiences. Shelley has an established presence across television and radio, she contributes a fortnightly opinion and AFL column for the Koori Mail, and has worked extensively within the AFL and AFLW.

She is recognised as a thought leader in First Nations education, working at the intersection of cultural knowledge, wellbeing and contemporary teaching practice. Shelley has spent over a decade developing nationally used curriculum resources through SBS Learn and many highly regarded organisations, supporting educators to embed First Nations perspectives in meaningful, respectful and practical ways. Her work centres on identity, cultural understanding and the role education plays in shaping more inclusive futures.

She is a Lifetime Ambassador for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, where she has supported and mentored young people to become authors, contributing to the creation of multiple community-led books. She is also the author of We Are Matildas celebrating diversity, friendship and being a part of a team. Shelley was named Football Woman of the Year in 2019 and was a finalist in the 2024 National NAIDOC education award, recognising her contribution across education, sport, media and community.

As a keynote speaker and facilitator, Shelley works with educators and organisations across Australia, creating spaces for reflection, dialogue and deeper understanding, grounded in storytelling, relational learning and community connection.
