Ricky Sutton works at the intersection of journalism and tech. He’s been a war correspondent, led the world’s largest newsrooms, founded an AI start-up, and advises 15,000 leading companies through his newsletter.

Sutton has led global newsrooms, grown a $36 million tech firm and now advises 15,000 media and tech companies across the world through his popular newsletter.

He began his career as a local reporter, rising to head the newsroom of Britain’s largest newspaper, covering global conflicts, and leading it to newspaper of the year twice in a row.

At the dawn of the web, he became News Corporation’s first head of digital, taking it from a standing start to a multi-billion valuation before Murdoch pulled the pin during the dot.com crash.

He was appointed managing editor of digital of News Australia in the early 2000s, with a seat on the board of social media pioneer MySpace.

Inspired by tech, he moved to Microsoft as it began its foray into AI and search. Products he built featured in the $100 billion Bing search engine for more than a decade.

He has blended his media/tech experience in his own start-up, Oovvuu, which used emerging AI techniques technology to match videos with articles in real time across hundreds of publishers.

He ran the company for a year before his exit to private equity and went on to launch global consulting firm Future Media.

He now advises thousands of C-suite executives across thousands of the best-known companies across the world through his Future Media Substack.

Clients include Reuters, Accenture, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, BBC News, CNN, The Associated Press, The Financial Times, Bloomberg, and more across 70 countries.

He has spoken on every continent and on some of the biggest global stages including at The United Nations, SXSW, Reuters, IBM, and the International Broadcasting Conference.
