Paul Smith is known as The Board Futurist. A leading voice for reimagining corporate governance, he helps boards lift the three things that matter most: trust, judgement, outcomes.

An experienced board chair, he speaks with knowledge of the inside out.

Paul’s keynotes and masterclasses all start from the same basic premise; that the future-fit board is simultaneously more human and less human. He expertly blends neuroscience and a deep understanding of human judgement, with practical technology strategies and artificial intelligence - to improve decision quality without theatrics.

Paul has coached and advised hundreds of directors across ASX-listed, private and not-for-profit organisations including ongoing work for major clients Westpac and MinterEllison.

As founder of Future Directors and Future Boards, he has built a reputation for building and designing technology, advisory, and learning tools that boards actually use. He has also designed learning content for peak governance bodies across the globe, including the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Institutes of Directors New Zealand, Middle East and Maldives, plus the Private Directors Association USA, and Capacity Canada amongst many others.

He has presented multiple keynotes across four continents, written three books - including an award winning title - and hosts a global podcast for directors that turns real dilemmas into real decisions. His latest book, The Artificially Intelligent Boardroom is already sending shockwaves through the director community as boards contemplate their role and responsibilities in the age of groundbreaking technology.

His core message is provocative and practical. His style is one part humour, one part futuristic, one part practical. Audiences leave with smarter questions, clearer strategies, and a reimagining of what’s possible, here and now.
