AJ Lamarque is an award-winning comedian, presenter and science communicator with a gift for making the complicated genuinely funny — and the funny genuinely educational. A regular voice on ABC Evening Radio across NSW and ACT, AJ has hosted and headlined events nationally, earning a reputation as the rare performer who can hold a room at a comedy festival and a science symposium with equal conviction.

His hosting credits span an impressive breadth of stages and screens: SBS's Celebrity Letters and Numbers; the Australian Museum's blockbuster Ramses and the Gold of Pharaohs talk series; TimeOut Sydney's Arts & Culture Awards; UNSW's SciFest; and SXSW Sydney, where he went one-on-one with the Federal Minister for Industry & Science, the Hon. Ed Husic MP. He was also the 2025 Pride in Basketball Ambassador for Basketball NSW and took home the 2025 Pride in Sport Positive Media Award (because apparently one side hustle is never enough).

"He has his finger on the pulse, tackles sharp topics with softness, and knows his way around a relatable anecdote."
Sydney Morning Herald

On the comedy circuit, AJ's career reads like a highlight reel. He has hosted the Melbourne International Comedy Festival's prestigious Comedy Zone, served as Official Ambassador for the Sydney Fringe Festival, and been named a Creative Australia Future Leader. He has appeared at Mardi Gras' Laugh Out Proud Gala, OzAsia Festival Great Comedy Debate, The Comedy Store, Comedy Republic, opened for international acts Juno Birch and Sashi Perera, and turned up on podcasts ranging from A Rational Fear and The Bugle to the cult D&D favourite Acquisitions Incorporated (a range that tells you everything about the man).

“Lamarque’s stand-up craft is like a scented mind missile, hitting its target with precise panache.”
The Age

As a writer, AJ has contributed to ABC’s Gruen and Question Everything with Wil Anderson, and has worked with production companies Matchbox and Wintergarden Pictures on scripted development.

Currently touring his sold-out show, A Beginner's Guide to Ancient Egypt, a comedy history hour about one of humanity's most captivating civilisations, AJ brings his signature blend of sharp storytelling, cultural insight and disarming warmth to audiences hungry for entertainment that actually teaches them something. Whether he is MCing a black-tie gala, hosting a science festival or interviewing a federal minister, AJ Lamarque is precisely the kind of presenter who makes everyone in the room feel like they are the smartest, most entertained version of themselves.
