Graham Phillips has both a PhD in astrophysics and a long career in the media under his belt.
As a young boy, Graham spent way too much time in the chemistry lab he built under a table at the back of his parents' garage, and he ended up becoming a scientist.
After acquiring a PhD in astrophysics and working in various science jobs, he said he wanted "new challenges" (others said "early mid-life career crisis") so he switched professions and became a science journalist, commentator and TV presenter.
Graham was the host of ABC TV's Catalyst for many years, and was also a reporter on the earlier incarnation of that program, Quantum, and a presenter on Channel Seven's Beyond Tomorrow. He's written for almost every newspaper in Australia, has had several popular science books published, and he currently spends half his time as an academic at the University of Melbourne. He's now enthusiastically embracing the new world media, and is still insisting it's all about new challenges.
